Economic Growth Now Depends on Electricity, Not Oil

The shifting foundation of U.S. economic growth from oil to electricity is driven by increasing electricity demand from data centers, AI applications, transport electrification, and modern infrastructure. This transformation necessitates substantial investment in electricity generation, transmission, storage, and distribution. While electricity offers more domestic energy security than oil, it introduces new challenges, such as infrastructure shortages, regulatory hurdles, and partisan divisions over policies on fossil fuels and renewable energy subsidies.

AI is the greatest threat—and defense

AI is simultaneously amplifying cyber threats while significantly strengthening defenses. On one hand, malicious actors are leveraging AI to accelerate and personalize attacks through phishing, deepfakes, and malware, making them more difficult to detect and defend. Conversely, organizations are increasingly adopting AI-powered tools to enhance threat detection, automate responses, and bolster defenses through innovations like agentic AI and Security Operations Center automation. This dual role of AI underscores the urgent need for companies to integrate advanced AI-driven cybersecurity solutions to stay ahead of evolving threats.
