Nick-Anthony Buford is a Managing Director and the General Counsel of ClearSky. Mr. Buford is a capital markets and venture capital attorney with over 20 years of transactional and finance legal experience. Mr. Buford’s responsibilities include execution of investment and exit transactions as well as fund formation, governance, and compliance matters. Mr. Buford has served as General Counsel of ClearSky since 2012. Mr. Buford is a member of the New York and Florida bars and is also fluent in Spanish. Prior to joining ClearSky in 2012, Mr. Buford was a Senior Attorney for NextEra Energy, where he was the lead attorney responsible for NextEra Energy’s venture capital investment activities. Prior to joining NextEra Energy in 2007, Mr. Buford was a transactional and finance attorney with international law firms Linklaters, Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells), and Herbert Smith Freehills in London, Miami, and Singapore. Mr. Buford holds a B.A. from Harvard University, magna cum laude, in government and a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law. Mr. Buford was also previously a California State Senate Fellow in Sacramento and a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar in Madrid. During his education he completed student or sister city exchanges to Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Spain, and worked as a law clerk in the legal departments of Southern California Edison and Terra Networks.
